Alycia Cavadi

Wellington, New Zealand, April 13th, 2009 – Eco-Friendly Merino Apparel For Kids – Unique Packaging to Be Reused and Re-Imagined, Not Thrown Away

Kids are being given the chance to try the Icebreaker range of beautiful, silky soft New Zealand merino wool garments that were a huge hit with grown-ups in previous winters.

As part of its ongoing commitment to the environment, Icebreaker has developed packaging for its Kids range that can be not just re-used, but re-imagined.

For Fall/Winter 2009, Icebreaker’s Kids products are inspired by the sheep stations in New Zealand’s Southern Alps where the merino fiber for the garments is grown. The line includes Icebreaker’s new Bodyfit+ crews and leggings, which feature whimsical all-over prints for boys and girls.

For older girls, the Bodyfit+ line offers graphics of New Zealand animals and birds, while boys will look sharp in a camo print that features a stylized map of New Zealand’s main islands.

“Youngins often don’t tell us when they are cold. Bodyfit is a nice way for parents to have alternative options,” says Sandy La Rowe, Icebreaker VP of Product Design and mother of Teagan and Raiden. “Icebreaker Bodyfit and Bodyfit+ were designed to be worn as tops and leggings around the house or as long underwear outside on cold days.”

Merino is warm, renewable, biodegradable, fire retardant, and offers excellent protection against the sun. Parents love their kids in Icebreaker because the garments are machine washable, and dry in a flash.

Icebreaker’s Sport line of active mid layers, hoodies and crews offer bright colours, giving girls and boys the warmth they need to stay active in cold weather.

New York, NY (PRWEB) November 13, 2007 — Upside Over, (Upsideover.com) today announced its expanded stock of Kids Cycling Gear for fall purchasing and the holiday season. Including Argon 18, Baby Jogger, Deuter, Primal Wear and more.

As active families look to explore the outdoors through cycling they continuously look for options to get their young kids involved. Just because you have kids, doesn’t mean you have to give up cycling. As your kids grow from toddlers to teens, you can grow with them. Start your children in the cycling habit early and then let them advance at their own pace. Make sure you keep plenty of water and snacks handy and be sure to shorten your rides with plenty of activities for the kids in between.

“Kids cycling is often a tough category for parents, especially when it comes to finding appropriate gear and apparel for younger children“, Said Cynthia Dean, company co-founder ,”Mobility, convenience, comfort and security are major factors in empowering active families. The Upside Over team is focused on providing the most extensive selection in the Kids cycling category.”

We had a close call in Utah this past week. A three year old boy who was camping with his Mother and friends wandered away from their campground early in the morning and wasn’t found until just before dark. It was getting really scary because the night before in the Uinta Mountains it had gotten down into the 20s. Seems cold for mid-September but remember this is in the high country of Utah.

At any rate, they found him…a little cold and hungry…about a mile away from camp…but safe. We’re all very thankful. I must say the mobilization efforts of the people of Utah are touching. (Namely, the The Garrett Bardsley Foundation and the Summit & Wasatch County Sheriff’s Offices) It took only a few hours and there where hundreds of volunteers on site searching by foot, horseback and ATV. There is a lot to be said about that many people dropping everything on a dime and collaborating to find little Benjie!

Within an hour, search and rescue teams from surrounding counties arrived. A Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office plane took to the skies with the DPS helicopter. Volunteers – including an Arizona couple on their honeymoon – gathered to help in the search.

Read full article from the Salt Lake Tribune…

Benjie’s mother was shaken but held the right attitude…namely, that you can’t be afraid of the wilderness. It’s too beautiful and too important to the livelihood of children everywhere. What you can do is work hard to educate children about the dangers of wandering off in the wilderness alone. I also really liked that it was her intention to outfit her son with a whistle whenever they camp from now on. Great ending to a scary day in the mountains of Utah.
